Dutton, the owner and operator of Dutton's Diamonds.
A SHORT
PERSONAL HISTORY:
I was raised in the Pacific Northwest, and I speculate that
my life-long attraction to gems and jewelry may have had its
origin in a gene provided by my great-grandfather who was
a jeweler.

However, my early interest in science dictated a different path, taking
me through a Ph.D. in chemistry and post-doctoral training in neurobiology.
These experiences simultaneously affording my wife and me the opportunity
of sampling the varied cultures of the Midwest, New York City and
Southern California over a ten year period.
We spent the
next eight years in London, where I headed up my own research team,
which also offered the opportunity for extensive travel throughout
Europe and the rest of the world. This was followed by a move back
to the Midwest where I have spent twenty years as a Professor in
the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Iowa College
of Medicine, doing research in brain development, teaching, training
Ph.D. students and helping raise two sons.
Several years ago, I decided it was time to get serious
about gems and gemology, and what better way than to fully immerse
oneself in the business itself! So I completed my Graduate Gemologist
Diploma through the Gemological Institute of America (GIA), set
up a small gemological lab. and library, and started Dutton's Diamonds.
I have taken early retirement from the University to move to the Phoenix area of Arizona and devote myself full-time to Dutton's Diamonds - what more could anyone ask!
My goal in
this endeavor is to offer you worry-free, honest, personal and confidential
service, providing you with quality gems at the right prices.
So if you are
